Vaping Linked to Cardiovascular Damage, Experts Warn Britain on ‘Health Emergency’

A recent study conducted by Dr Maxime Boidin at Manchester Metropolitan University has found alarming links between vaping and cardiovascular damage. The two-year study monitored vapers’ health compared to non-vapers and cigarette smokers, revealing that the arteries in both groups suffered similar levels of damage.

Dr Boidin, a senior lecturer in cardiac rehabilitation, states that vaping may be as hazardous to one’s body as cigarettes, putting long-term users at risk of serious illness, including dementia and heart disease. The study suggests that inflammation caused by nicotine, combined with metals and chemicals found in vapes, contributes to the damage.

The UK government has banned single-use vapes, but Dr Boidin believes this measure is insufficient. He advocates for a complete ban on all vapes, making them only available on prescription to avoid a potential “health emergency” within the next 10-15 years.

Experts Rachael Maskell and Dr Marina Murphy have differing opinions on the study’s findings. While some experts are calling for stricter measures to regulate vaping products, others argue that millions of people use vapes safely without harm.
