Co-founder Sridhar Vembu sparks an online discussion about the future of IT workers, especially those writing code, as artificial intelligence continues to break new barriers. He was reacting to a post about developing a Bhagwat Gita app using AI without knowing a single line of code. Vembu said it’s time for coders to consider alternative livelihoods due to the growing capabilities of AI.
Vembu pointed out that AI has already achieved significant feats, such as building an entire C compiler with their Claude AI. He also shared a detailed conversation with Google’s Gemini chatbot about the global economy and how it would function in a post-labour economy. Vembu emphasized two possible outcomes: one optimistic, where technology becomes trivial and allows humans to focus on life, family, and nature; the other pessimistic, leading to centralized control.
Social media users have reacted to Vembu’s assessment, with some agreeing that AI writing code is not the end of human ingenuity. Others pointed out that the real question is when we will be ready to accept what AI produces.
