Verizon Launches Satellite Texting on Android Devices

Verizon has made history by becoming the first US carrier to offer satellite texting on select Android smartphones. The service allows customers with Samsung Galaxy S25 or Google Pixel 9 devices to send text messages via satellite when they’re outside of terrestrial cellular network coverage.

The upgrade is available to Verizon customers starting today and will continue over the next two weeks. This expansion demonstrates Verizon’s commitment to keeping its customers connected, even in remote areas.

Verizon is pushing the boundaries of satellite and terrestrial telecommunications by incorporating satellites into everyday life. The company has already tested data services and video calling via satellite connectivity and uses satellite technology for various purposes, including emergency response situations and IoT applications.

This move further solidifies Verizon’s position as a leader in innovative telecommunications solutions.
