Vermont Unemployment Claims Fall Sharply

Unemployment claims in Vermont dropped by 136 last week, according to the US Department of Labor. New jobless claims fell to 235, a decline from 371 the previous week. Nationally, initial filings for unemployment benefits rose to 247,000, an increase of 8,000 from the prior week. Kentucky experienced the largest percentage increase in weekly claims, with a 208.9% jump, while Nebraska saw the largest drop, with new claims decreasing by 50%.
