Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive Japanese Grand Prix win on Sunday, taking the chequered flag from pole position. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner described the victory as “one of Max’s best weekends” and praised the Dutchman’s performance.
Verstappen had a strong qualifying session on Saturday, setting up for a dominant drive on Sunday. He managed to maintain his lead throughout the 53-lap race with only one opponent – McLaren’s Lando Norris – able to keep pace.
Despite the win, Verstappen was cautious about his team’s chances of securing the world title. “We still have work to do, we still have limitations,” he said. However, Horner remained optimistic, saying that the Red Bull team is making progress and that Tsunoda’s performance in Japan has been encouraging.
The team’s call to bring in Yuki Tsunoda as a second driver has seen mixed results so far. While Tsunoda scored points in his first start for Red Bull, he also expressed disappointment with his qualifying performance.
Horner was pleased to secure the win at a Honda-run circuit in the final year of their engine partnership. The team is now looking forward to the next race in Bahrain, where Horner believes they will be motivated by their recent success.
