Veteran TV Actor Dan Ziskie Dies at 80

Dan Ziskie, a veteran actor known for his roles in “House of Cards” and “Treme,” has passed away at the age of 80. Born on August 13, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, Ziskie began his acting career in the 1980s and appeared in numerous TV shows, including “L.A. Law,” “ER,” and “Law & Order: SVU.” He also had notable roles in films like “Adventures in Babysitting” and “War of the Worlds.”

Ziskie’s most prominent role was as Vice President Jim Matthews on Netflix’s “House of Cards,” which aired from 2013 to 2017. The show won several Primetime Emmys and earned dozens of nominations. He also appeared in HBO’s drama series “Treme” as C.J. Liguori, alongside an ensemble cast that included Khandi Alexander and Wendell Pierce.

In addition to his acting career, Ziskie was a gifted photographer and published a photo book titled “Cloud Chamber.” A travel enthusiast, he explored complex topics like quantum physics and the cosmos.

Ziskie is survived by his brother David, wife Cynthia, nephews Jesse, Brett, Austin, and their six children.
