A 59-year-old woman received a text alert in April saying her Apple ID had been compromised. She contacted the number and was transferred to someone posing as an FTC agent. This is just one case of a growing trend of fraud schemes that have scammed Maryland victims out of $700,000. Authorities arrested two individuals, Jianwei Wang and Zheng Xie, in Prince George’s County over their involvement in a carrier scam.
