The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to a one-year contract extension with edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel. The deal is worth $23 million, with $22.4 million guaranteed. This move keeps one of the team’s key defensive players around for another year.
Van Ginkel was entering the final season of his two-year contract. In 2023-24, he set a career high with 11.5 sacks and recorded impressive statistics on defense. The edge rusher played in all 17 games and was on the field for 81 percent of Minnesota’s defensive snaps.
The extension is notable as Van Ginkel had previously worked with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who coached him during his time with the Miami Dolphins. Over his career, Van Ginkel has recorded 28.5 sacks, 49 tackles for loss, and 76 quarterback hits, showcasing his value to the Vikings’ defense.
