Vikings Pay Tribute to Hall of Famer Randy Moss After Cancer Diagnosis

Minnesota Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson sent a heartfelt text message to his hero, Hall of Fame receiver Randy Moss, last week after hearing about his cancer diagnosis. Moss announced he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous mass from his bile duct and will undergo radiation and chemotherapy treatment.

On Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bears, Jefferson made the tribute public by giving Moss a shoutout during a 7-yard touchdown pass catch in the first quarter. He looked into the ESPN camera and said “We love you, Randy. That’s for you.”

In the locker room after the game, Jefferson spoke about his admiration for Moss, saying he is grateful for what he has done for the game and for him as a kid. The Vikings also honored Moss by sending two of his former teammates, Cris Carter and Jake Reed, to midfield as honorary captains during the coin toss.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said the team met internally last week to decide how to honor Moss, who is a Hall of Famer and has his name up in the rafters. The coach stated that he could feel the love for Moss in the building, saying he means the world to the organization and they are behind him every step of the way.

Randy Moss responded on Twitter by posting “LUV U ALL!” after seeing his former teammates honoring him during the game.
