Viktor Hovland Withdraws from Ryder Cup Singles Match

Norwegian golfer Viktor Hovland withdrew from Sunday’s singles match at the Ryder Cup due to a neck injury. Hovland had an MRI on Saturday night and woke up on Sunday unable to move his neck. He will now share the point with American player Harris English, who was originally scheduled to play Hovland.

Hovland has been dealing with neck pain for months and initially experienced it during his foursomes match on Saturday. Despite receiving medication and physical therapy, he continued to feel pain. The Ryder Cup medical team confirmed that a disk bulge in his neck caused the flare-up.

With Europe leading 12-5 going into Sunday singles, Hovland expressed his disappointment at not being able to play but vowed to support his team. He now has one point for Team Europe from his four-ball match on Saturday.
