Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s eldest child, Violet Affleck, has published an academic research paper in Yale University’s Global Health Review. The 19-year-old freshman compared public health protocols during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Violet recalled her family’s differing responses to the crisis, including a heated argument with her mother, Jennifer Garner, about the climate crisis’s impact on the region. Despite Garner’s reaction being described as “shell-shocked” by the scale of destruction, Violet found herself more focused on finding solutions and less concerned with the immediate danger.
In her paper, Violet drew comparisons between public health protocols in both disasters and argued that climate scientists should recognize the methods and commitments made by COVID-conscious individuals. She also opened up about a personal experience with a post-viral condition five years prior to her college career.
Violet’s academic research showcases her continued commitment to using her voice for public health solutions, following previous appearances at a Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting in 2024 and an earlier discussion on parenthood in 2023.
