Virat Kohli Reaches 14,000 Runs in ODIs with Century Against Pakistan

Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has reached 14,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs), becoming only the third player to achieve this milestone after Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. This achievement comes after India’s successful chase of 242 against Pakistan.

According to former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble, Kohli’s performance was “sublime” as he hit an unbeaten century, his 51st in ODIs, by hitting the winning runs off a part-time spinner. Kumble praised Kohli’s ability to stay focused and composed under pressure, saying it is evident from his batting style.

Kohli surpassed Tendulkar’s record for reaching 14,000 runs in fewer innings (63) and has also become the fastest player to achieve this milestone in terms of balls faced. With his recent performance, Kohli is poised to overtake Sangakkara in second place and is on track to surpass Tendulkar as the top run-scorer in ODIs.

The former cricketer added that Kohli’s influence on the team and fans makes it difficult for him to perform consistently without expectations. However, Kumble observed that Kohli was able to break free from this pressure and bat normally during his recent century against Pakistan.

Kohli had also broken the record for most catches as a fielder for India in ODIs earlier in the match against Pakistan, moving to 158.
