Vivek Ramaswamy, incoming co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has laid out the new agency’s vision to tackle government bureaucracy during an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo.
Ramaswamy plans to address “failures of the executive branch” through aggressive cost-cutting measures starting with executive action. He believes that Congress can then take meaningful steps to reduce spending, following the lead of the Supreme Court’s recent rulings on regulations being unconstitutional at a large scale.
The plan aims to “rescind those regulations, pull those regs back,” and downsize the administrative state through executive action alone. Ramaswamy sees early wins in this area as a way to build momentum for addressing larger portions of the federal budget.
Ramaswamy’s ultimate goal is to bring about “sweeping change” to restore self-governance and accountability in America. He believes that by leveraging the Supreme Court’s recent environmental rulings, he can create an environment where voters have more choice and flexibility to hold officials accountable.
With a deadline of July 4, 2026 – marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence’s signing – Ramaswamy and fellow co-leader Elon Musk will work to deliver their recommendations. The new DOGE is expected to provide a unique perspective on dismantling government bureaucracy and restructuring federal agencies from outside the government.
As an advisor to President-elect Donald Trump, Ramaswamy has already demonstrated his commitment to this cause, withdrawing himself from consideration for the Ohio Senate seat vacated by Vice President-elect JD Vance.
