Jonathan Joss, a voice actor from King of the Hill, was shot and killed on June 1 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. A police report alleges that the killer, Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, confessed to the crime immediately after being detained.
According to the report, Ceja, who was a neighbor of Joss’, admitted to intentionally discharging a weapon during their dispute over mail delivery at the property. Five witnesses were listed in the timeline of events, including a woman who reported seeing the suspect argue with Joss and allegedly threatening to use his gun.
Joss, 59, was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m. Ceja was arrested on charges of first-degree murder. A statement from Joss’ husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, claimed that their home was repeatedly threatened and vandalized due to homophobic harassment. However, the police department stated that they have found no evidence linking the shooting to Joss’ sexual orientation.
Ceja has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in connection with Joss’ death. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community.
