Walmart is recalling approximately 850,000 Ozark Trail stainless steel water bottles due to a lid ejection hazard that can cause permanent vision loss. Three customers reported injuries after the lids forcefully ejected while opening the bottles, striking their faces.
The recalled bottles, which were sold at Walmart stores nationwide and on its website since 2017, have a silver base with an Ozark Trail logo and a black screw-cap lid. The model number 83-662 is printed on the original packaging but not on the product itself.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the water bottles and contact Walmart for a full refund. The recalled bottles were manufactured in China and imported by Olympia Tools International Inc.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission warned that the lids pose serious impact and laceration hazards, especially when storing food or carbonated beverages inside the bottle over time.
