A recall of Great Value chicken broth by Walmart has been issued due to defective packaging that may cause spoilage. Approximately 12,000 units of the product, sold in over a half-dozen states, have been recalled.
The affected products were manufactured by Tree House Foods Inc. and were sold in stores across Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. The FDA has advised consumers to discard the broth and request a refund from Walmart.
According to officials, the packaging failures may compromise the sterility of the product, leading to spoilage. The recalled products have a use-by date of March 25, 2026, and a specific code number (98F09234). Walmart is continuing to investigate the issue with the supplier and has removed all impacted products from stores.
