Walmart Tests Secret Stores for Faster Online Delivery

Walmart is launching a new concept – “dark stores” that aren’t open to the public. These stores aim to improve online order fulfillment by keeping popular products in stock. The first store opened in Dallas, and another is planned for Bentonville, Arkansas. The idea is to speed up delivery for customers willing to pay more.

Walmart+ subscribers get free unlimited delivery on orders over $35. However, the retailer faces competition from Amazon Prime, which has 186 million users in the US. Walmart+ has 34.7 million users and offers discounts for government assistance recipients.

In other news, Walmart is rolling out AI tools to help store associates communicate with customers and find items using augmented reality. The company also plans to expand its drone delivery service to more cities.
