Walmart has announced the rollout of its new artificial intelligence tools for store associates, aiming to enhance customer experience and improve operational efficiency. The suite includes a real-time translation feature in 44 languages, facilitating multilingual conversations among employees and customers.
The tool can translate text-to-text and speech-to-speech formats, using Walmart-specific knowledge to accurately recognize brands like “Great Value.” This feature will be upgraded from the existing conversational AI platform, which already handles over 3 million daily queries and sees more than 900,000 weekly users.
Additionally, an augmented reality tool is being introduced to assist associates in finding merchandise for stocking on the sales floor. The expansion of Walmart’s AI capabilities comes as the company grows its drone delivery service to five major US cities, following previous announcements in Dallas, Texas, and Bentonville, Arkansas.
