Walmart has released a new 4K Google TV box that could be a better alternative to Google’s discontinued Chromecast line. The Onn 4K Plus Streaming Device, priced at $29.88, offers support for Dolby Vision HDR content, a feature previously available only in the pricier Onn 4K Pro model.
The device is more affordable than its counterpart, the Onn 4K Pro ($49.88), but lacks some features, such as smart speaker capabilities and a customizable remote with backlighting. However, it still includes a voice-capable remote with a programmable button for launching favorite streaming apps and a dedicated “Free TV” button for accessing Google’s ad-supported FAST channels.
The Onn 4K Plus also offers faster processing power than the Pro model, thanks to an Amlogic S905X5M quad-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz, although it has less RAM (2GB) and storage (16GB). A notable advantage is its connection via USB-C, which may be more convenient for users.
While not as feature-rich as the Onn 4K Pro, the Onn 4K Plus provides an attractive option for those seeking a budget-friendly streaming solution with Dolby Vision support.
