Warm Bedrooms Increase Heart Stress in Elderly Adults

A recent study by researchers at Griffith University found that sleeping in a room above 24 degrees Celsius can increase heart stress and reduce recovery in elderly adults. The study, which monitored 47 adults aged 65 and above, revealed that for every degree increase in temperature above 24 degrees C, the risk of heart stress increases. Maintaining a bedroom temperature around 24 degrees C is key to reducing the likelihood of heightened stress responses during sleep. As climate change leads to more frequent hot nights, this finding highlights the importance of keeping bedrooms cool and comfortable for better heart health.
