Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Discloses New Investments in Nucor, UnitedHealth, Lennar and DR Horton

Warren Buffett’s investment firm, Berkshire Hathaway, has revealed four new investments in steelmaker Nucor, insurer UnitedHealth, and two of the nation’s biggest homebuilders – Lennar and DR Horton. The company’s filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission show that these investments are worth $1 billion or more.

The largest investment, worth around $857 million, is Berkshire’s stake in Nucor, with 6.6 million shares. This led to a 6% increase in the company’s stock price after-hours trading.

Another significant investment is Berkshire’s new UnitedHealth stake, worth $1.57 billion. This stock jumped nearly 8% in aftermarket trading following the announcement.

Berkshire’s investments in Lennar and DR Horton are smaller, but still notable. The Lennar investment was worth around $800 million, while the DR Horton stake was valued at $191.5 million.

These new investments provide a snapshot of Berkshire Hathaway’s $258 billion portfolio at the end of the second quarter. Investors closely follow Buffett’s moves, as his record of beating the S&P 500 has inspired many followers.

It is unclear who handled these specific investments, with Buffett, Ted Weschler, and Todd Combs being the main stock pickers. However, Buffett has struggled to find stocks he wants to invest in recently, leaving investors wondering about his investment strategy.
