The Golden State Warriors have completed a trade for Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, according to ESPN. The deal, which was finalized despite concerns from teammates Steph Curry and Steve Kerr about Butler’s fit in the locker room. Butler will sign a two-year, $121 million extension with the Warriors.
Butler has a history of causing drama in his previous teams, including three suspensions for missing flights and disrespecting teammates. This behavior has raised concerns among the Warriors’ coaching staff and players. Despite these concerns, the Warriors were close to finalizing a deal with the Phoenix Suns for former Warrior Kevin Durant earlier this week.
However, it seems that Butler’s concerns about playing for the Warriors ultimately led to him being traded. The two sides worked out an agreement that allowed them to move forward without having to revisit negotiations. With the trade complete and extension signed, the Warriors have secured a new star player despite initial doubts from Curry and Kerr.
