Hundreds of employees at The Washington Post have sent a letter to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, requesting a meeting amid growing concerns about the newspaper’s leadership. The letter, signed by over 400 staff members, including prominent reporters and editors, expresses alarm over recent leadership decisions that have eroded trust in the institution.
The signatories are concerned about the direction of the newsroom under Chief Executive Will Lewis, who has been at the center of discontent for months. Notable departures include top editor Sally Buzbee, who left after a reorganization plan was put in place; several opinion staff members resigned over the decision to end presidential endorsements; and Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist quit after a cartoon critical of President Trump was deemed too sensitive.
The letter emphasizes the need for open communication with leadership and asks Bezos to visit The Post’s offices to meet with staff. This request comes as the newspaper continues to face challenges, including a significant loss in subscriptions and several high-profile reporter departures.
