Google has introduced a new feature for Gemini, its voice assistant, that allows it to watch and summarize videos in Google Drive without users having to manually play them. This feature is now available to business and enterprise plan users, as well as those with the Gemini Education or Premium add-on, and Google One AI Premium subscribers.
Gemini can automatically take notes on important information, find specific data, or even provide summaries based on preset prompts or custom user requests. The new feature utilizes Gemini’s existing capabilities to analyze files in Drive, including PDFs, text documents, and Google Docs files.
To access this feature, users simply need to double-click on a video from the Google Drive file list and click the “Ask Gemini” button. This allows for faster information retrieval without the need to manually watch videos.
As part of the new features announced at I/O 2025, Google is continuing its efforts to enhance collaboration tools through AI-powered assistants like Gemini. The company aims to reduce the time spent on tasks by leveraging AI-driven automation and summarization capabilities.
While this feature is currently limited to specific user groups, it’s likely to expand to more users in the future based on past rollouts. For now, it offers a convenient solution for those looking to optimize their work processes with AI-powered tools like Gemini.
