As Lady Gaga took the stage at Coachella in Indio, California, she declared that she was building an “opera house” for the crowd – complete with a giant sandbox and Roman columns. And in 7,500 miles away in Sydney, Australia, I was experiencing it all on YouTube’s livestream from my own living room.
Coachella’s official channel saw non-US viewership double between 2019 and 2024, making it more accessible to people around the world than ever before. This year, the lineup looked impressive, with new features like vertical livestreams and “Watch With” allowing users to engage with their favorite creators.
I joined the thousands of viewers tuning in worldwide by setting up notifications for stage starts and individual set times. However, a late night and early morning proved challenging, but YouTube’s multiview feature helped me catch up on what I had missed. The ability to switch between multiple streams showcased four stages simultaneously made it feel like being at the festival itself.
As I watched Tyla and Djo before Benson Boone’s Main Stage set, I was inspired by his stage antics. Later, Missy Elliott’s show kept me going with a series of intense intervals on the treadmill, which helped me power through. When Lady Gaga took the stage, I was ready – no prep needed for this ultimate experience.
With Coachella’s second weekend livestreams starting on Friday, April 18 at 4 p.m., PT, you can watch along from anywhere in the world. Check out the festival’s official YouTube channel to join millions of other Little Monsters and experience the magic of Coachella live.
