Wayne Osmond, Original Osmonds Singer, Dies at 73 After Stroke

Wayne Osmond, an original member of the iconic singing group The Osmonds, has passed away at the age of 73. He died on January 1 in Salt Lake City after suffering a stroke. His brothers Donny, Merrill, and Jay confirmed the news in social media posts.

Donny, 67, paid tribute to his brother, describing him as “the ultimate optimist” who brought love, laughter, and light to everyone around him. Merrill, 71, called Wayne a “saint” with humility and unconditional love, while Jay, 69, referred to him as a “true legend.”

Wayne was part of the Osmonds’ family music group from its inception in 1958, singing alongside his older brother Alan and younger brothers Merrill and Jay. The group gained fame in the 1970s after releasing the hit song “One Bad Apple,” which spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 100.

After the band went their separate ways, Wayne experienced various health issues, including a brain tumor diagnosis and significant hearing loss. Despite these challenges, he remained optimistic and found new appreciation for life.

Wayne is survived by his wife Kathlyn White and their five children. His brothers have expressed sadness over his passing, but are grateful to have had him as a brother in spirit and through their shared faith.
