The new Wegmans store in Rockville, Maryland, is set to open soon, and its leadership team has already made a significant impact on the local community. Through partnerships with organizations like So What Else, which supports food distribution and other services, the team has donated over $21,000 to date.
In March, the Rockville team volunteered at So What Else, where they assisted with food packaging and distribution. The partnership will enable So What Else to collect perishable donations seven days a week, providing fresh produce, nutritious proteins, and essential pantry staples to those in need.
Additionally, the team has identified five graduating seniors from local high schools to receive $1,000 scholarships, mirroring the store’s employee scholarship program. The Rockville leadership is also preparing for Neighborhood Safety Day, where they will hand out snacks and water alongside fire, police, and other community organizations on June 28.
The community outreach efforts demonstrate the new Wegmans’ commitment to supporting local initiatives and making a positive impact in the area ahead of its grand opening.
