Weinstein Accuser Miriam Haley Storms Out of Courtroom in Tears

Harvey Weinstein’s sex crimes trial took a dramatic turn Friday as one of his accusers, Miriam “Mimi” Haley, stormed out of the courtroom in tears after a heated exchange with her lawyer. The Manhattan courtroom fell silent as Haley, 48, got up from the witness stand and walked briskly out, wiping away tears.

The incident unfolded during Weinstein’s defense attorney Jennifer Bonjean’s grilling of Haley about her claims that the former Hollywood producer sexually assaulted her at his SoHo loft two decades ago. When asked if she had undressed herself, Haley replied, “I didn’t take my clothes off.” The exchange escalated as Bonjean fired back, saying “That’s for the jury to decide.”

Haley then snapped, “Don’t tell me I wasn’t raped by that f–king a–hole!” breaking into tears as she rushed out of the courtroom. Her emotional outburst was met with stunned silence from the audience and Haley’s attorneys.

The 78-year-old Weinstein, seated in a wheelchair next to his lawyers, remained expressionless during the tense moment. Earlier in the trial, Haley had testified about the moment she realized she was being “raped” by Weinstein at his apartment on July 10, 2006.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Michael Farber called for a short break to allow Haley to compose herself after her outburst. Bonjean continued questioning Haley with rapid-fire and intrusive questions, attempting to poke holes in her testimony.

Weinstein is facing up to 25 years if convicted on the top count at his retrial. The proceedings will resume Tuesday with prosecutors’ next witness.
