Weixin and Baidu Team Up with AI Startup DeepSeek for Search Integration

Tencent’s popular messaging app Weixin has launched a beta test of DeepSeek’s artificial intelligence model, allowing some users to search via the platform. This move is significant as it marks one of the first major tech firms to integrate DeepSeek, which recently gained popularity due to its free AI assistant that uses less data at a lower cost.

Weixin will utilize Tencent’s proprietary Hunyuan large language model to enhance its AI search capabilities. The company is also exploring integration with other products, including Tencent Cloud AI Code Assistant and Tencent Yuanbao, another AI assistant app. This partnership aims to provide users with more advanced search options.

Separately, Baidu announced that it would fully connect its search engine to DeepSeek’s AI model, which was previously launched as a standalone service. The company is capitalizing on the potential breakthrough of DeepSeek, which has been gaining traction among Chinese companies. Automaker Great Wall Motor and leading telecom providers are also integrating DeepSeek’s AI model into their offerings.

The integration of these platforms with DeepSeek marks an exciting development in the AI space, as tech firms compete fiercely to develop advanced AI capabilities.
