Wendy Williams, 60, continued to fight for her freedom from conservatorship as she appeared on Good Day New York from a hospital on Tuesday. The talk show host claimed she received mental competency tests and passed with flying colors. Her caretaker, Ginalia Monterrosa, stated that Williams was deemed not incapacitated.
Williams expressed her hope to be released from the conservatorship, allowing her to live a normal life again in New York and return to work. She denied receiving any special treatment during the examination, saying she got 10 out of 10 correct on simple questions like who’s the president and what’s her birth date.
The former talk show host also claimed she does not need a financial advisor or sober companion, as she has managed her finances for years. Williams described her life in assisted living as “a prison” where she is restricted from going outside and participating in activities without permission.
After authorities conducted a welfare check on Monday, Williams was escorted out of the facility and taken to the hospital for evaluation. The incident comes after reports of Williams being removed from her facility and Monterrosa’s allegations of elder abuse.
