Wendy Williams, 60, has spoken out about her lack of medical care under guardianship in a new documentary released on TubiTV. The talk show host detailed how her life has changed since being assigned a guardian in 2022 and receiving a 2023 dementia diagnosis.
Williams told Harvey Levin that she hadn’t seen a doctor in over a year, despite living in an assisted living facility for six months. Her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, claims Williams is “cognitively impaired and permanently incapacitated,” but Williams says she feels “fantastic” and is not incapacitated.
New York-based neurologist Leah Croll said that Williams’ history of substance abuse could be a factor in her dementia diagnosis. However, Croll noted that differentiating between alcohol-induced brain damage and dementia can be challenging due to the overlap in symptoms.
Croll suggested that Williams’ sobriety might warrant a reevaluation of her cognition, potentially leading to a new medical evaluation. This comes after Morrissey filed court documents requesting a “new medical evaluation” following Williams’ recent public statements denying her diagnosis.
