“The Handmaid’s Tale” has come to an end, but its dystopian world is far from over. The highly anticipated sequel, “The Testaments,” is currently in production at Hulu and will pick up more than 15 years after the events of the original series.
According to Hulu, the new series follows a new generation of young women in Gilead, grappling with the bleak future that awaits them. The story will be told through the eyes of Agnes, June’s daughter, who has been indoctrinated into life in Gilead and is now facing the prospect of being married off and living a life of servitude.
Elisabeth Moss will not reprise her role as June but will serve as an executive producer on “The Testaments.” Ann Dowd, who played Aunt Lydia, will also return to her iconic role. Other cast members have been announced, including Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, and Rowan Blanchard.
While a release date for “The Testaments” has not been confirmed, Hulu has stated that the series is currently in production. Fans of “The Handmaid’s Tale” can stay tuned for updates on this highly anticipated sequel.
As the curtain closes on “The Handmaid’s Tale,” its world will continue to unfold through “The Testaments,” a new chapter in the ongoing story of Gilead and its resistance fighters.
