White House Pushes Back on Schumer’s Claims Over Texas Floods

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of spreading “falsehoods” about President Donald Trump being responsible for the devastating flash flooding in Texas, which claimed the lives of at least 91 people.

Leavitt released a timeline of warnings issued by the National Weather Service before the floods, citing timely and precise forecasts and warnings that were issued despite unprecedented rainfall. The warning timeframe was over three hours prior to the flood conditions occurring.

Schumer had called for an investigation into NWS vacancies in Texas related to warning coordination, but Leavitt disputed this, stating that the experts responsible for monitoring rising water levels and issuing warnings are crucial in saving lives.

The White House announced Trump’s visit to Texas later this week, with a message of condolence and support for the affected families.
