The third season of The White Lotus opened to its largest premiere audience yet, with 2.4 million cross-platform viewers tuning in on its opening night Sunday. This represents a 57% increase from the season two premiere, which drew 1.5 million viewers.
After 36 hours, including the Presidents Day holiday, HBO reported that the show’s viewer count grew to 4.6 million, more than double the audience for season two’s first episode over the same period. Viewing numbers in Europe and Latin America skyrocketed by over triple, while global data was not provided.
The Thailand-set third season follows a new group of privileged guests at the White Lotus resort, as well as the staff there, and is shrouded in mystery – with an unidentified dead body turning up early in the first episode. Previous seasons have consistently drawn larger audiences than their premiere night figures, with season two averaging 15.5 million viewers and season one drawing 9.3 million.
The new cast includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, and Michelle Monaghan, among others, all executive produced by Mike White.
