Wicked, the hit Broadway musical adaptation, has made its streaming debut on Peacock. The movie is now available in two versions: the standard theatrical cut and a sing-along version featuring the lyrics to the show’s music, along with an introduction from stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.
The film, which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, tells the story of Glinda the Good and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West. The movie only adapts the Broadway show’s first act, but does so with visual flair and impressive performances from the cast.
Production designer Nathan Crowley created grand sets that surpass those seen on Broadway, while choreographer Christopher Scott utilizes nimble camera work to showcase the ensemble dancers. Director Jon M. Chu captures this movement with various camera tricks and techniques.
Both versions of Wicked are now streaming on Peacock, providing fans with a convenient way to enjoy the film. The second half of the movie, titled Wicked: For Good, is scheduled for release in theaters on November 21.
