Wildlife Control Measures at National Zoo

The measures include installing “biosecurity truck washes” for employees and sanitizing visitors’ tires. Additionally, the zoo uses noise cannons to deter wild waterfowl from entering the premises and plays recordings of predatory bird calls as part of its non-lethal deterrent strategy.
