Will Reeve, son of late actor Christopher Reeve, has shared his experience filming a cameo appearance in the latest “Superman” movie. The 33-year-old ABC News correspondent appeared as himself in the film, paying homage to his father’s iconic portrayal of Superman.
Reeve recalled that he was supposed to fly out with his then-girlfriend (now fiancée) Amanda Dubin for a romantic evening before shooting his cameo. However, they got rained out and had to postpone their trip.
Instead, Reeve arrived at the set in Cleveland, where filming was taking place, and met with director James Gunn. He was given a tour of the set and then filmed his scene, which parallels his real-life career as a correspondent for ABC News.
Reeve laughed that he didn’t even get to leave Cleveland before learning that his cameo had leaked online. Despite the surprise, he was honored to be included in the film and said it was a “nice homage” to his father’s legacy.
The new “Superman” movie stars David Corenswet as the newest Man of Steel, along with an ensemble cast including Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, and Nathan Fillion. Reeve praised the film’s director for picking up the torch from his father’s iconic portrayal. The movie is now in theaters.
