Will Smith Denies Involvement in New “Matrix” Film

Warner Bros. had announced a fifth installment of the “Matrix” franchise, with “The Martian” screenwriter Drew Goddard attached to write and direct. However, actor Will Smith is reportedly not involved in the film.

Smith’s recent post on Instagram sparked speculation about his involvement in the project. In the video, he recalls turning down the role of Neo in the 1999 sci-fi epic “The Matrix,” choosing instead to star in the Western film “Wild Wild West.”

The post also raises questions about what would have happened if Smith had taken on the iconic role. Meanwhile, a new album from Smith is reportedly in the works, with music releases and live performances over the past six months.

Smith’s career has seen many high-profile successes, including blockbuster hits like “I Am Legend,” “Men in Black,” and “Independence Day.” The actor recently starred in 2024’s “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” after a brief hiatus from film due to personal issues. Smith credits music with providing comfort during difficult times, stating that it has been a constant source of support throughout his life.
