Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 27774 to the Canary Channel, making available ISOs for download. This build includes a small set of general improvements and fixes aimed at enhancing the overall experience.
Key changes include enhanced administrator protection, allowing users to enable this feature without IT admin assistance. Administrator protection can now be enabled from Windows Security settings under the Account Protection tab. Additionally, a confirmation dialog will appear when formatting or deleting partitions during setup.
The build also addresses several known issues, including:
– Accent colored window borders not displaying as intended
– Shadows around windows not showing correctly
– An issue with the Xbox app failing to launch in some builds
– Errors with SFC/scannow and Remote Desktop using MTSC.exe
However, users joining the Canary Channel on new Copilot+ PCs from other channels will experience issues with Windows Hello biometrics. A workaround is available by re-creating the PIN.
As a reminder, features introduced in the Canary Channel may not be released in future versions of Windows, but may appear in Dev and Beta Channels first or undergo localization changes over time. Insiders can switch to a different channel by performing a clean installation of Windows 11.
