Microsoft has released the Windows 11 KB5050009 and KB5050021 cumulative updates for versions 24H2 and 23H2 to fix security vulnerabilities and issues. These mandatory updates contain the January 2025 Patch Tuesday security updates.
Users can install these updates by going to Start > Settings > Windows Update and clicking on ‘Check for Updates.’ They can also manually download and install the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
The new features in this update include:
– A new section for touchscreen edge gestures, allowing users to turn off the left or right screen edge touch gesture.
– An updated Input Method Editor (IME) that hides the toolbar when apps are in full screen mode, only affecting Chinese and Japanese characters.
– Enhanced sharing capabilities in File Explorer, including the ability to share content with Android devices.
– Improved Dynamic Lighting Settings page functionality, now displaying a placeholder message when no compatible device is attached.
– Additional features for Jump lists, including the option to open items as admin by holding Shift and CTRL keys.
– Updates to speech-to-text and text-to-speech features, including improved Narrator functionality.
Additionally, several fixes have been made to address issues with Display, Mouse, Clipboard, and Narrator. These updates are available now, and users can check for updates manually to receive the changes as soon as possible.
