Windows 11 Sees Slight Decline in Global Desktop Market Share

Microsoft’s Windows 11 experienced a slight decline in its global desktop market share in November, while Windows 10 saw gains ahead of its planned end-of-support date for most editions.

According to recent data from Statcounter, which aggregates page views across millions of websites, Windows 11’s market share dropped from 35.6% in October to 34.9% in November. Meanwhile, Windows 10 increased its market share by nearly one percentage point to 61.8%.

In the US, Windows 11 saw a similar decline, with a drop of 3.2% to 36.6%, while Windows 10 grew by 3.5% to 61.3%. This trend comes just 10 months before Microsoft is set to end support for most editions of Windows 10.

Several factors could be contributing to this shift, including hardware compatibility issues with Windows 11 and limited incentives for users to purchase new compatible hardware. Some users may also be downgrading from Windows 11 back to Windows 10 due to user preference.
