Microsoft has made improvements to the “Recommended” panel in the Windows 11 Start menu, making website suggestions more relevant for users. However, despite these changes, it’s clear that Microsoft has no plans to remove this feature from the OS. The company aims to show users high-quality sites based on their browsing history and is committed to improving its quality.
In a recent preview build (22635.4655), testers are experiencing better filtering for recommended websites, making them more relevant and useful. This change was made based on user feedback. Additionally, Microsoft Edge Game Assist has been activated in the Beta channel, allowing users to access website tips and guides while playing games without leaving the game.
While these improvements are a step forward, it’s disappointing that Microsoft remains committed to including the “Recommended” panel in the Start menu. Users who don’t like these suggestions may still be left with little choice but to tolerate them. A more customizable approach would be welcome, allowing users to personalize their Start menu experience.
It appears that Microsoft will continue to refine its algorithm to show more relevant content, but it’s unclear when or if this panel will be made optional. Until then, users who object to these suggestions will have to remain vigilant about what content appears in the Windows 11 Start menu.
