Windows 11 Starts Overhaul with New “All” Apps Page Layout

Microsoft has officially confirmed a significant update to the Start menu in Windows 11, bringing a new layout for the “All” apps page that organizes applications by category. The update is available now on the Beta Channel and will also be rolled out on Windows 11 23H2 and 24H2 in the coming weeks.

The new layout features two organization options: a Name-based Grid layout, which shows apps in alphabetical order with tile icons, and a Category view that groups apps by their respective category. The Category view offers larger icons and a clean design reminiscent of iOS.

While users can’t create custom categories, Microsoft is testing the feature to determine its general availability. In two months, the new Start menu layout may be rolled out on Windows 11 23H2 and 24H2.

The update builds upon previous changes planned for 2025, including a new sidebar that allows viewing notifications, messages, and Android apps, as well as sending files to Android phones through Phone Link integration.
