Winter Storm Demi Brings Snow and Freezing Temperatures to Mid-Atlantic

A winter storm dubbed Winter Storm Demi has brought snow and freezing temperatures to the Mid-Atlantic region, causing multiple vehicle accidents and travel disruptions.

The National Weather Service declared a state of emergency in New Jersey, while Washington D.C. issued a cold weather emergency. A pileup on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania resulted in at least one person being injured.

According to weather forecasters, the storm will continue its trek up the East Coast into early Monday, with snow tapering off by mid-morning. Lake-effect snow bands are expected to impact regions downwind of the Great Lakes, while gusty winds may cause delays for air travel at major hubs like New York and Boston.

Travel disruptions were reported on several Pennsylvania roadways, including Interstate 80, which was closed temporarily due to a pileup. Hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed at airports in Washington, Boston, and New York by Sunday evening.
