Wispr, a voice AI company, has raised an additional $25 million in funding led by Notable Capital, bringing its total valuation to $700 million. The startup’s dictation app, Wispr Flow, has seen significant traction since its launch, with 270 Fortune 500 companies using the platform and an average user writing more than 50% of their characters through the app.
Wispr’s CEO Tanay Kothari said that the company is growing 40% month-over-month and has received a lot of interest from investors. The new funding will be used to hire top machine learning talent, expand into international markets, and develop new products.
The company’s error rate for its dictation feature is around 10%, lower than competitors like OpenAI and Apple. Wispr aims to reduce this number further by building its own voice models to understand users better with personalized Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR).
While Wispr is not expanding into consumer applications immediately, it is testing its technology through a closed API with select enterprises and hardware partners. The company plans to open up the API to more developers next year.
Notable’s Hans Tung, who has backed companies like Affirm and Coinbase, believes that Wispr has the potential to become a voice-led operating system that can initiate workflow automation. He is joining Wispr’s board as an observer and expressed his excitement about the company’s user experience and team.
