Witness Testifies Under Cross-Examination Over Alleged Lies

Erin Patterson, a key witness in the trial, faced intense questioning from prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC over her alleged lies. The lies included claiming to have cancer and faking a lump in her elbow to deceive Gail Patterson and police. However, Patterson maintained that she did not lie about these claims. She also disputed evidence presented by Ian Wilkinson regarding a lunch incident.

During the cross-examination, Patterson revealed some inconsistencies in her previous statements. She frequently asked for clarification on questions and showed assertiveness when answering certain queries. The prosecution argued that the Sunbeam dehydrator was used to deliberately dry death cap mushrooms intended to poison her lunch guests.

The witness’s testimony will continue on Friday, as she faces further questioning from the prosecution.
