Witnessing Partial Solar Eclipse: Where and When to See It

A partial solar eclipse will be visible in parts of 13 US states on March 29. The best views are expected in coastal New England, where up to 86% of the Sun will appear eclipsed as it rises. Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts can expect around 57-64% coverage.

The eclipse will also be visible in other regions, including parts of Canada, Europe, Africa, northern Asia, and small parts of South America. The partial eclipse is set to begin before sunrise in the US and Canada on March 29, with different start times depending on location.

Some locations may witness a “double sunrise” as the Sun rises during the eclipse. In these areas, the Moon’s silhouette will make the rising Sun appear like it has two horns. However, staring directly at the Sun without proper eye protection can cause permanent damage.

It is essential to wear specialized eyewear, such as eclipse glasses or a pinhole camera, when viewing the partial solar eclipse. The brief total phase of the eclipse may allow for safe direct viewing, but only during this specific period.
