Sphere Entertainment Co. is producing two new projects, “The Wizard of Oz at Sphere” and “From the Edge”, as part of its immersive content slate called The Sphere Experience.
The iconic 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz” will be brought to life with cutting-edge technologies, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus. The production aims to maintain the original’s integrity while enhancing it for an immersive experience.
The creative team behind “The Wizard of Oz at Sphere” includes producer Jane Rosenthal, visual effects specialist Ben Grossman, editor Jennifer Lame, and creative director Zack Winokur.
In contrast, “From the Edge” will feature five athletes from various extreme sports, including free diving, skiing, rock climbing, BASE jumping, and surfing. Directed by E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, the production will take audiences on an immersive journey into the world of extreme sports.
Filming for “From the Edge” is currently underway in multiple locations, using Sphere Entertainment’s proprietary camera system to capture high-quality images. The project is set to debut in 2026.
Both productions aim to push the boundaries of experiential storytelling, offering unique experiences that blend technology and entertainment.
