The Washington Wizards ended a 16-game losing streak, defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves 105-103 on Saturday night. Kyle Kuzma led the team with a season-high 31 points, while Jordan Poole and Bilal Coulibaly added 19 and 14 points respectively. Jonas Valanciunas contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds to secure Washington’s seventh win of the season.
The Wizards broke their 21-game road losing streak, the longest in the league this season. With under four minutes left, they turned the ball over but managed to cling to a two-point lead until Nickeil Alexander-Walker missed a three-pointer with three seconds remaining, allowing Corey Kispert to secure the rebound.
Jaden McDaniels led Minnesota with 23 points and 12 rebounds in his first career game with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds. Rudy Gobert added 16 points and 16 rebounds but could not prevent Minnesota’s five-game winning streak from ending. The Timberwolves were missing two starters, including All-Star Anthony Edwards who sat out due to illness and Julius Randle who missed his first game with a groin injury.
