WNBA Draft’s Top Pick Olivia Miles to Leave Notre Dame

Notre Dame guard Olivia Miles will forgo the WNBA draft and enter the transfer portal, according to sources. The 22-year-old projected No. 2 pick had been undecided about entering the draft but ultimately decided college wasn’t right for her anymore.

Miles, who is still eligible for the draft due to a remaining year of eligibility, cited comfort and security as reasons for leaving Notre Dame. She also mentioned that the WNBA’s volatility and uncertainty were factors in her decision.

The junior guard had an impressive season, averaging 15.4 points on 48.3% shooting while improving her three-point shot percentage from 22.8% to 40.6%. Despite a strong start, Notre Dame struggled later in the season and was ultimately ousted from the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16.

Miles’ decision comes as a surprise, given that many players have returned to school for their final year of eligibility. However, she will now look for a new start elsewhere, passing up the opportunity to be a top lottery pick in the WNBA draft.
